We all talked about it, but hardly anyone could have predicted that even before 2011 ends, the American DoJ would change its position on iGaming, declaring that the 1961 “Wire Act”, applies to sports betting and not to any other vertical.
Our own Scott Yeates has been referring to a potential online poker regulation just few days before these fantastic news got publicized, at his recent article for EGR:
His prediction was that it “seems likely that regulated US online poker will open in 2012”, based on “the fact that Vegas casinos and others are gearing up for regulated US online poker”. We can only assume that the revision in the Department of Justice’s opinion reflects a very possible “bill in the works for 2012”.
Recent actions, “such as Fertitta Interactive buying CyberArts and bwin.party signing deals with MGM and Boyd Gaming” are pretty much self-explanatory even to you, right Thomas?
